Chickens up production to full capacity

At the beginning of March the chickens started laying every day again, after the winter lull. Good little egg layers that they are they have upped egg production again and are now laying two eggs a day !

Here’s a picture of today’s eggs, helpfully laid in the nest box. Our ladies aren’t always so helpful sometimes they lay in the main area of the coop and very occasionally in the run.

I’ve yet to work out if they are laying one egg a day each or if they take it in turns to lay two eggs, I’m guessing that one egg a day each is more likely but you never know. Blackrocks are hybrids so will lay more eggs than pure bred chickens but still I think Monica and Rachel superb little egg laying machines especially as they are well into their second year of laying.
